The Subcommittee in Pediatric Anesthesia Education for Residents and Students (SPEARS) is a Subcommittee of the SPA Education Committee, supports medical students and residents in exploring pediatric anesthesiology as a career. Our goal is to inform, engage, and inspire future pediatric anesthesiologists. Over the past two years, we have enhanced trainee engagement at our annual meetings by creating a centralized hub for mentorship, tailored seminars and workshops, and social events in a low-stress setting. We also piloted an outreach program at a local high school, where pediatric anesthesiologists, residents, and medical students taught life-saving skills and introduced careers in medicine. Our leadership includes dedicated pediatric anesthesiologists committed to mentoring and guiding the next generation.
