I read with interest Dr Agarwal’s review of Bang et al.’s study of Propofol or Propofol with ketamine for MRI.
Propofol used to be my primary anesthetic for MRIs when I started taking care of these patients as I was trained in that technique. But over the years I have also added dexmedetomidine or ketamine, observed faster wake-up and PACU discharge for those with combination. More recently I have started using GA with LMA after mask induction and Propofol bolus of 2mg/kg. It would be interesting to study atelectasis in TIVA vs GA/LMA.
