PAAD Text-to-Speech Functionality: Turning a short READ into an easy LISTEN
At this month’s SPA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, I presented an “Editor’s Picks” of the top PAADs of the year. At the conclusion of that session, an audience member asked me why the PAAD does not include text-to-speech (TTS) functionality. Not only does this enhance accessibility, but it also can allow you to listen while you drive to work if you prefer, instead of reading while you drink your morning coffee.
After some research with the substack website, I am happy to report that this IS possible, it just requires a bit of setup on your part. I wanted to share the instructions with you in case you would like to try it:
- The first step is to download the SubStack app here. The TTS functionality is only available by listening through the app, and not through the emails.
- Open the app, and create a login (or login). It’s free.
- Search for “Pediatric Anesthesia” and the top hit will likely be Pediatric Anesthesia Article of the Day, by Ron Litman.
- Subscribe/follow the PAAD in the app
- At the top of each post, you will see an arrow (the play button) that will read the PAAD to you using TTS functionality.
Thanks for being a loyal reader of the PAAD, and please respond to let us know if you have suggestions for an upcoming PAAD
From Jerry Parness MD on the passing of Al Hackel
Dr. Hackel was a wonderful human being and physician. He was as forceful as he was humble... a great force of nature while forging better care for children. A great human being. May his legacy be his blessing.
